Solomon arrived in Bello in 1990 and soon became aware of 2BBB. Being brought up in the UK and inspired by the likes of John Peel and Andy Kershaw on the BBC, he was quite keen to present a show of interesting new music. He did the training course twice but each time chickened out before going "On Air".
Being a presenter is still something that is outside his comfort zone but most Monday evenings between 8 and 10pm, the lure of the studio in Wheatley Street proves too strong. If you tune in then you will hear a mix of Global / World / Folk / Roots with some jazz, punk and hip-hop thrown in for good measure.

Aside from 2BBB, over the last twenty-odd years Solomon has written and published a free online e-book about the Legendary Nineteen Eighties Punk Jazz Saxophonist Xero Slingsby (above). It's called NOW THEN and contains music, videos, photos, interviews, weblinks and prose.

Picked up a couple of compilations of Sufi Music just recently - the Rough Guide to Sufi Music and Sufis At The Cinema - 50 Years of Bollywood Qawwali & Sufi Song 1958-2007. They're both treasure troves of some really soaring devotional music and they've inspired me to dig out some other Sufi stuff (Nusrat, Cheikh Lo, Mercan Dede etc) for your enjoyment this Monday - in amongst lots of other new and interesting music from around the globe.
