Dorrigo Despatch

Show: Dorrigo Desptatch
Presenter: Helen Proud
Time: Monday mornings at 10.30 a.m

About The Show

The Dorrigo Despatch brings news, views and interviews from the Dorrigo Plateau - all that is going on here, people who visit from all over the world, news from the National Park, and my own take on what is happening in the world around us, both here and in Australia and around the world.

I like to include world music reflecting the people I am interviewing, getting to the heart of what they do, and hopefully bringing us as shire residents closer in our understanding of how we perceive where we live and how we live our lives collectively and individually in the Bellingen Shire.

Join me each Monday morning for my take on my world from Dorrigo.

I'm a Treechanger - one of those who left the Big Smoke 10 years ago to find "a nice place in the country to live". It was Dorrigo that found me!

I am a compulsive and insatiable traveller having been to over 50 countries and lived extensively in India, Britain, China and Uzbekistan, as a volunteer, tour leader, English teacher and traveller.

About The Dj

I love to bring stories, particilarly of women, from around the world who visit my Bed and Breakfast in Dorrigo and to share these stories with my listeners.
I have just written a book "Women of the Silk Road - Stories from Modern Uzbekistan" with interviews of over 50 women in that country where I stayed in 2003.

I am part of the Dorrigo Refugee group that has brought two refugee families to re-settle in Dorrigo over the past two years (the first family arrived in 2005 and the second family in February 2007).
