Listen to this
Presenters: Carmen or Annette; each every fortnight
Time: Sundays 2pm-3.30pm
From 2-2.30pm we play that week’s edition of ‘Writers’ Radio’ via the Community Broadcasting Network.
For the remaining hour:
Carmen talks about the Archetypes in Literature, Poetry, Film and the difference between a good yarn and a blockbuster. The importance of Stories, Myths and Fairytales which speak to our right brain, which deals with the big picture, the esoteric and hidden elements which touch the heart and the emotions. The Archetypes are important to our psychic health and can put us in touch with our feelings. They can hold our attention and allow us to see a greater vision for ourselves and others. It is time to give the right brain some exercise as the left brain has been dominant in our thinking for too long. This has got us into a big mess. So on with the stories, tales, myths, poetry, and Archetypes and some good music too. Cheers from Carmen.
Annette does readings for adults – as your parents may have read to you when you were kids. Listen to short stories, extracts from novels, essays and/or poetry; often with a focus on a particular author and often coupled with an interview of that author. In 2009 she has conducted interviews with authors including David Malouf, Peter Goldsworthy, Robert Dessaix, Di Morrissey, Robert Drewe, Marele Day, Kristina Olsson, Kevin Rabalais, Steven Conte [2008 winner of Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Fiction], and local authors Ian Irvine, Pip Wilson,
Peter Hohnen
and Cherie Pugh.
Annette moved to Bellingen in 2006. She has always been a bookworm and regularly reviews books for the monthly Law Society Journal. She is a member of the Bellingen Writers’ Group and loves writing fiction, memoir and poetry. Her author interviews seek to encompass the author’s entire work and to elicit writing tips for listeners interested in writing.
